AMES Type 16

The acronym AMES stands for Air Ministry Experimental Station, which is the British Air Ministry's radar development team. This acronym became the basis for naming Britain various radar technologies throughout the Second World War and beyond. Type 16 radar directed fighter aircraft, which engaged in air combat with the enemy and attempted to establish dominance over air space.
