Boeing Flying Fortress

Flying Fortresses were American bombers developed by Boeing in the 1930s and were put to use in the Second World War. Flying Forts were used in daylight precision bombing campaigns against Germany and, in air raids on Japanese shipping ports and air fields in the Pacific Theater, and in nighttime bombing raids of German held territories in Western Europe ahead of the allied invasion of occupied France. Flying forts were known for being fast, accurate, and high flying planes that could sustain significant damage and still make it back home at the end of an air raid.
